Useful Hands

I wrote most of these lyrics while spending time with my Grandpa who was in the hospital over Christmas. Thanks to Brandon "Chicken Pickin" Church for making it into a real song. Grandpa has since passed on, but I wanted to share some of his legacy, Grandma's too.

Useful  Hands

Verses:
These hands that held grand babies
Are the ones I'm holding now
They once built barns
While he told yarns
But now they're breaking down

These hands once steadied Clydesdales
Can you see just how they shake?
He fed his stock
Worked 'round the clock
Their care he'd not forsake

Chorus
My grandpa, He's still with us
He knows what's going on
His wisdom hasn't left him
Though his thoughts may ramble on
His heart don't beat in rhythm,
but I know it's beating still
For his Savior and his loved ones
His hands, still ready to fill

These hands that once sewed dresses
for her daughters to hand down
They snapped green beans
And bandaged knees
But now they're breaking down.

These hands that once held grandpa's
Can you see just how they shake
She penned down words
Raised many birds
Their care she'd not forsake

Chorus
My grandma, She's still with us
She knows what's going on
Her wisdom hasn't left her
Though her thoughts may ramble on
Her heart don't beat in rhythm,
but I know it's beating still
For her Savior and her loved ones
Her hands, still ready to fill
